Was Yamaha still using lacquer in 88? had major lift when i hit the faux tank and front fender with epoxy today, no prob with the rear which is after market, leads me to believe the OEM pain was still lacquer based. I should of know better and used sealer, but i didn't and made a lot of extra work for myself.

I don't think it was but maybe a 2 stage paint. U.S. companies I don't think were allowed to use it for quit some time (though I have no real idea).
