Problem with the scooter or step-thru chassis is how the hell do you hold on? Some of them could potentially have slightly more horsepower than stock, in which case I would think your ass would just sail off the back as soon as you hit the gas.

I wouldn't think so.

Not much different, ergonomically, then a big engined chopper. As far as the seating, their arrangement reminds me of the GSXR's, FJ's and other sportbikes of the mid 80's. In fact a few of the, scoots' seats look as if they came from an '86 Gixxer.

My wife rides a 400cc Burgman scooter. She thought the machines were amazing - as did I.

I was in Japan probably 6 years ago, and the modded scooters I saw then were prectical.
These are a bit too long and low to be actually useful. Big bore scooters get thru traffic phenominally fast, partially because they can be quite quick off the line, but also because they stop and handle insanely well.
What you lose in the straight, you pick up in the round about. Not those ones!

These are a bit too long and low to be actually useful.

They are long that's for sure. But I believe they have an air ride system, I don't think they keep them that low while riding.
