Tank rust

So I removed the gas tank the other day on my 85, and I had a ton of rust in the bottom (gonna use a POR15 kit to seal it). Thinking about the effect this might have on the carbs (which were rebuilt in the last two years), would the shotgun be enough of a clean? It has been backfiring and running rough on idle lately.

Always start with the bare minimum and go from there... Shotgun and pea shooter get my nod!

Fargo (RagingMain) was offering a carb cleaning service with an ultrasonic tank he has access to. That's what I did when I realized how much rust was in my tank. It was also a new bike, though, and I had no idea when (or if) the carbs had ever been done, so I wanted the peace of mind.
