Just trying to save you some effort since the exhaust in most cases needs to be removed to access it.

Thanks Sean. Being the off season for me, it's time to look at maintenance on my Max and one thing is to get the exhaust recoated.

Mike

Rode the Max down to vote for Hillary. Rode home and put it away for winter. Season 32 is in the books. The new Shinkos can wait till next season to be mounted.

So sorry to here that. Don't worry I canceled out your vote. Dang that's right I had to cancel out my sister's vote. Oh well, let's just ride!

Installed a set of 2" Rox Risers. Didn't get to take a ride, but it feels better just sitting on the bike.

Was going to do the stock exhaust mod today. I drilled the rivets and removed the end plate of the Mufflers and discovered that the PO had already done it. I guess he didn't like it as he had put small metal caps/plugs in the 5 drilled holes and then riveted the end plate back on. I guess if I decide I don't like it that is what I will do.

Our members report no additional power from the drilled holes but it will change the exhaust note/tone. Neither will slip-ons give any increase in power. A full exhaust and a Stage 7 jet kit or similar and installed and tuned correctly is how to make power by bolt-ons. Done correctly, you can expect more noise, and perhaps 10% more power. So 110 RWHP becomes 121 RWHP. Done incorrectly, you lose horsepower and driveability.

Thanks Fire-Medic. At this point I'm just looking for a little more report from the exhaust, and that has been accomplished.

Took my first ride after replacing the started clutch. 53 degrees in the Atlanta area, broke out the heated glove and took a short ride to fill up with Ethanol Free. No leaks (oil) and started right up. Thanks for all the help on this forum to get this task done.

Doug

Worked a little bit more and the dragbike's chassis and engine. Then went back to some football.

Put my baby away for the winter.. Getting too cold to ride to work with the wind chill..

I put on a new sportmax seat, oem case guards, and highway pegs and took an hour ride. Like the look without the higway pegs better, but they are NICE!!!!!

Took the highway pegs off for now. Ordered the Progressive fork spengs and 444 rear shocks. Then I pop riveted the muffler end caps back on using washers to leave a space.

Bought this 95 last night paid a little more than I like for a non running bike because of the header and shocks. It has been sitting 6 years. I went out today and started looking close and the tank was pretty clean. I cleand the varnish in the bottom just by taking the sender out and flushing it. I then joked with my friend and said put the choke on its gonna fire right up and we laughed. Well it did fire right up ! I let it warm a little took the choke offf it idled fine but was a little sluggish. I pulled the pods off cleaned them and found 2 slides that had seperated. I glued them back and out the filters back on and it purrs like a kitten.

Started mine after finding that I'd put the right rear exhaust flange on upside down. Now that it's correct, I don't have a crazy exhaust leak anymore.
