I would like to change the clutch cover on my '06 (all Black) to a '01 or similar look (black with aluminum) . My question is what year do I want. The part number changes in '03, the same year the engines went satin black.
Not many Vmax's around here to look at for a comparision.
Did the black area change to satin instead of gloss or did something else change. It's hard to tell anything looking at web pictures.
It seems like I would want '03 style/look to best match my satin engine?

Just have yours stripped and repainted? I may have a good one in the color scheme you want (for both sides.) 85 had black/silver then it went to a light gold and silver until in the mid 90's which stayed that way for years.

The center part is removable/swappable as well.

Could take it of and make it whatever color you want.

Should have said cover insert. This is the look I'm after.

New from Yamaha they are around $70. Not sure could I get mine stripped and repainted for that.
It seems that the black area on say a '01 is glossy like the engine. The '03 part number is different, can someone tell me what the black area finish is like on an '03. Am I correct that '03 was first yr of satin engine paint?

Just a thought ......... Sean does these and stock covers very well.
