p.s. of all the places I've visited, Chicken (Alaska) is dearest to my heart.

BTW, folklore has is that the handful of residents originally wanted to name their town after the Alaskan bird, Ptarmigan. But the problem with that was that none of the residents knew how to spell Ptarmigan ... so they settled for Chicken.

Yup, that was explained to me, I think by the drunk bartender. No doubt you stopped in for a cool one.
Did he explain about the ceiling of the bar?, and why it is covered by the assortment of torn men and ladies underwear?

Did you stop at Yukon Annies, coming or going to AK?
I was in Heaven -all you can eat breakfast, Salmon bake/river cruise, and free camping! Last time I checked their website, they had closed -lack of traffic on the AK highway. Sure hope that changes.
The more I review these pics, the more I want to head north again next year.
Although Arkansas and Manitoulin Island were on the radar. Just ain't enough time, and our lives(biking, anyway) are too short.
