I was wondering if there was a different master cylender that would fit on the bars that would have a little bit better power and adjustment than the stock master cylender?

Re: Different master cylender

FJR1300. Earlier years had mirror mounts already drilled and tapped. Later years had the boss but it wasn't drilled. Works best with braided lines. Levers are adjustable.

Actually, most any metric motorcycle will mount up but look for the size of the bore. I believe the Kawasaki ZRX has masters that will work too but mirrors have different threads.

Re: Different master cylender

I have a Kawi clutch master on my Max that is drilled/tapped for a mirror post. Uses a 10mm x 1.25 thread. My Max has bar end mirrors so I had to find a bolt to attach L-bracket to it for the reserviour. Have an R1 front brake master cylinder that I had to fab up an L-bracket that attaches to the bar clamp to attach the reserviour to.

Yamaha fzs 1000, fz1, fz1s, fjr1300, xjr1300. it also came on some of the 650/750's as well.

I got one without the mount drilled. it was easy enough to drill and tap if you have a drill press ($35 at big lots or Harbor Freight) and taps. Use a left side mirror from the Vmax/star and you are set.

it gives you an AMAZING response compared to old. I can do a "stopee" now.

Just curious, what calipers are you using?

Re: Different master cylender

hey Mark,

Right now stock (v1 '90 max) with standard pads. I have everything to upgrade to R1 calipers and disks, minus the brackets. got to get of my @#$ and order a set from Morley.

truth is just changing out the master made such a radical difference (good) that I am thinking maybe just go with some sintered (sp?) pads and call it a day. I went from both hands, feet and a boat anchor trying to stop to two fingers.

David, awesome! I've never heard anybody that did the master cylinder first. Usually they go to different master when changing line and calipers.

Well, after 26 years in the Army I have lost full use of both hands and I was REALLY looking forward to stopping the bike before I ran out of breath (screeming). Did a search and when I read about the mod at Vmax outlaw, the guy said changing out the master (took it off his brothers XJR I think) is where he got the best bang, sooo I figured I would give it a try. That project worked worked out well. changing out the swingarm and putting on the 18" rim, not so much.

wish I could find a clutch master as well, looking hard at getting my clutch modded by EFM http://www.efmautoclutch.com/index.shtml

Well I was talking about the clutch but brakes work too mabie a good match that that would wook good for both i wonder if bussa masters would work good? any ideas on a pair that would work good?

I have the FJR clutch master like Sean recommended and it is a world of difference over the stock. I have a double D mod done and the action is still pretty easy. I would highly suggest this master.
Cheers
