This is all personal preference. Your just going to have to try one for yourself, you cant make a decision based on mixed reveiws.
Heres my opinion. I am 5'10 220llbs. I thought it was very comfy to sit on, comfortable for my ass. The most comfy to sit on of all vmax seats, Ive sat on all of them. But other people say it is too hard.... I didnt think so.
My issue was that I strated to get pain in my back between my shoulders blades, I think it increased the reach. Also it was harder to put feet to the ground due to the width at the front of the seat.
With the ufo, sportmax seats you sit alot lower and puts you in a position to where you feel like you have good control of bike. But these seats squish my balls due to the deep wedge. I have the ufo and I use an Airhawk inflatable seat cusion for long rides.
As I said the Corbin for me was very comfy to my ass, I could ride for hours, if it didnt hurt my back.

Here's my take on the Corbin debate.

#1 IMO it ruins the looks of the Vmax.

#2 It's hard as hell and always is (never goes soft) Viagra?

#3 It's at least 10 pounds heavier than stock

#4 it sets you back on the bike. Good for tall guys and bad for shorter guys.

#5 it costs an arm and a leg
#6 IMO it ruins the looks of the bike.:whistlin:

Positives are:

#1 wider cushion built for long distance comfort.

#2 Pillion pad is WAY more comfy.

I have a Morley seat which is very much the same as UFO and RMS seats but Sean is a pleasure to do business with...:thumbs up:

I also use an air hawk for long rides but that was last year and I have lost 40 pounds since then so I think it'll be better now.

:thumbs up:

I hate mine. Mine is going to get narrowed up, cut down, and gel pad installed. It's wide like a damn saddle, spreads your legs out too wide, and hard as a board. If I had an offer for a stock Max seat before I send this off, I'd trade straight up.

It looks like they have tried to improve the design with the latest generation...not the velcro gas cap version but the butt-plug looking one. Their site says..."We just recently retooled this design for an updated fit and easier fueling with the nozzles you find at the gas pump nowadays. Our V-Max saddle design gives you large sculpted seating areas to provide the greatest square inches of body support possible. This eliminates hot-spots and increases your comfortable riding range. Lower seat height gives you an easier reach to the ground without sacrificing comfort value."

I just bought my first Max on E-bay and I have read nothing but complaints about the stock seat. Maybe I'll just take it to a local guy for re-tooling. We've got a great guy here in Seatte http://www.richscustomseats.com/ but he is damn expensive.

As you can see, VMAXWELLSMART, there's various opinions about the Corbin seat and/or the lowered seat and there's no right or wrong - it will depend on what works for you - looks and feel, but the stock seat is crap as far as comfort.

I have the older version of the Corbin seat and a lowered stock seat. For long distance riding, my wife and I prefer that Corbin seat and with highway pegs, I can ride 300-500 miles in a day no problem.

The lowered seat is not quite as comfortable for long distance riding (IMO) but much better than stock. One of it's main advantages is that it lowers you into the bike more than stock or Corbin which is good for shorter riders and for high speed handling - your upper body is lower which means less wind drag and front end lift.

I would recommend that you get your stock seat redone by a reputable guy first (ie: Sean Morley) and than buy a Corbin if you still feel like you need it.

 Mike

This is all opinion...

I don't have a clue how they feel on a long ride but I rode a buddies just a couple of miles and couldn't wait to get off of it.
It felt like I was sitting on a high chair, was WAY to wide towards the front and hard as a rock.

The main thing I don't like about them tho' , and this is just my opinion, is it completely ruins the lines of the bike.

I'm 225lbs and 6' tall and LOVE my UFO seat....have made many a 250-350 mile ride without a complaint.

Try the stocker first! I have seen some people with iron butts that can stand the Vmax seat. It really is weird but it kicked me right in the upper quad area... Man when it started hurting it didn't stop. My buddy has a max too and after he went through the pain he didn't know if he could/would get back on his...:surprise:

I Have A Ufo Seat, I Love It, I Go On 3 To 4 Hundred Mile Rides, Sometime's I Put My Feet Back On The Passenger Peg's, Just To Switch Position A Little Bit, Even Sit Up On The Passenger Seat, Just To Get The Blood Flowing , Just For A Couple Of Minute's !!!! Work's Out Great !!!!

I like to stand up,freaks people out while passing them.

I forgot to mention the passenger section. My wife hated it. It slopes forward/downward, causing a sliding forward effect, pulling her pants up both her cracks. Please guys no cracks about this.
As I mentioned in my first reply I stated that a lot of people think the seat is to hard, seems so. I di not think so.
it does ruin the look of the max.

You should contact Sean Morely. If you are not satisfied with his seat he will refund your money, you would only be out shipping. He may also have a corbin lying around.

SEAT'S ARE VERY IMPORTANT, THEY MUST FEEL GOOD, AND ADD TO THE LOOK, I Have Alway's Had Motorcycles My Whole Life, But Have Never Got'n Nowhere Near As Many Look's As My Stock V-max Get's ( Except For Seat & Bars )

I'll let you know how I like mine as soon as it gets decent enough here in wisconsin to ride. I have never had a stock seat. I bought the bike used last year and it had on old crappy corbin on it with a busted seat pan (from a crash). Actually, even the old busted one sat nice for me. I replaced it with a corbin, because I can get a backrest for the passenger section and I like the looks of it. Mine has the shiny black alligator pattern in the seating areas. I will post pics sometime in the next month of so. And, if you order from a corbin dealer, as I did, they will cut it down for you for free. all you have to do is ask. I told them that all the corbins i have been on felt too wide for me. They cut it narrower. You can customize your seat in any way, materials, welting, stiching, colors, and foam cut. They also said that after this year they will only be selling thru dealers. So you will not be able to get a corbin from parts unlimited or dennis kirk, ect. You will have to go thru their website or a local corbin dealer. A freind of mine is a corbin dealer, and i ordered thru him. seat , and backrest made just the way i asked was $500 shipped.

Geez, you all sound like chicks.

I guess I'm a hardass Canadian.

As for looks, without a backrest the corbin does take away from the aggressive low seat design. With one, it's more comfortable for a passenger, hand holds, looks better and makes room for bags.

It causes you to respect the power too, since the higher seating position won't hold you in the saddle, like a stock or lower seat does. I just learned to frikin hang on to mine.

The Corbin, provides more comfort for taller riders. I'm 5-10, 195, have long legs and bad knees. My bud with short legs can't touch the ground on it, another who is also tall and has bad knees couldn't ride it...period.

So it boils down to the base element of what works for you.

Try one, keep your stock seat and see. Borrow one, if you can.

I wish I had a stock seat to try without buying one. So I can experience the difference myself, but I can guarantee my knees won't take then bend for long.

The Corbin is hard and on a long ride you'll feel it for sure.

Be a man and stop whining.
:punk:

At least you felt the road. lol

I have decided to go with the Sportmax seat (good thing I'm not in a hurry though).

I hate that Corbin "butt-plug" look...

Morley could probably get you one quicker and they are pretty much the same dang thing. I am VERY happy with mine.

Who has or has tried a new Corbin seat? Thumbs up or down? Please post some photos...

I have sat on 2 VMAX's with Corbin seats and both of em sucked! They arent my style of looks and they are hard and to boot they are over priced !!
Find an local shop and have em cut your stock seat and recover it sit in your seat rather than on it

Man what to get for a seat ? I thought I wanted a corbin seat but now I'm not sure lol. But there has to be a comfy seat other than stock ? perhaps seans seat is the ticket ? Anyone have a rough idea on the price of his seats?:ummm:
