Maybe of interest for those in the UK.

Brief background ; my Vmax is Japanese import that needs to be registered. To do that it needs a dating letter (VJMC will do that) and an MOT (a test to ensure a vehicle meets safety requirements to be driven).

Anyways, I got a quote of £450 about a month ago (Carole Nash) then one for £380 from Adrian Flux based on the frame number since bike is not registered.

II almost accepted AF but bike was not ready for MOT so I lapsed.

Last night I did a search for insurance based on frame number and a couple of specialist companies came up. I did quote on MCN and came back with £180, now that is more palatable.

I also did quote with Footman James, one of the companies mentioned, who returned with £ 136.

Naturally I expected these quotes to apply to registered bikes.

This morning rang FJ and to my surprise and delight!!! the £136 quote (fully comp £50 excess) can be done on frame number, well fuck me if I did not buy it.

Sorry for the long post that is of interest to a small proportion of readers but thought this may help some else out.

insurance prices vary so much depending on who you go with, where you live, where the bike is kept, what your age is, what your annual mileage is, what did you watch on TV last night etc etc.
I just go with a compare site and get the cheapest option to make me legal to ride and I'll take care of my bike in my own way if 'problems' arise :) ,
I paid £75 TPF&T
hope you get 'on the road' soon

Hi there - those sound like good prices (I assume for gen 1's). Gen 2's are about £200, or £350+ with nitrous. It does vary so much from company to company and even day to day.
