I am in need of new tires and I was looking at the metzlers. My question is, by changing from the OEM of 150-90-15 to the 170-80-15 will my speedometer be affected and if so by how much? Also, if there is a change can you adjust the speedometer some how to compensate for the change in reading? Thanks,

Will

Unless your speedo drive is not at the front tire, then no. Changing the rear tire will not affect how the speedometer reads.

I changed from the stock dunlop to a Shinko 170/80-15 with no speedometer issues at all.

+1 speedo's on the front wheel so will only be affected if you change the front tire size.

Rear 170/80 is very close in diameter size to the 150/90, so you'll hardly notice any RPM change.

This should help:
150/90-15 170/80-15 Difference Diameter inches (mm) 25.63 (651) 25.71 (653) 0.08 (2) 0.3% Width inches (mm) 5.91 (150) 6.69 (170) 0.79 (20) 13.3% Circum. inches (mm) 80.52 (2045.18) 80.77 (2051.46) 0.25 (6.28) 0.3% Sidewall Height inches (mm) 5.31 (135) 5.35 (136) 0.04 (1) 0.7% Revolutions per mile (km) 786.9 (488.95) 784.49 (487.46) -2.41 (-1.5) -0.3%

Her are the specs for speedo differences:
