Forgot to ask..is the rad cap a universal part (can get it at an auto store) or is it Max specific.?

Good question, You might find it at a NAPA or similar store. I've seen some pretty small assed caps on them tiny lil import cars.
Here is one on eBay for under $5 w/ $4.98 shipping. from the price of the shipping it looks like USPS priority.

It's important that any non-Yamaha replacement cap has the same operating pressure range.
The original cap opens to the overflow bottle through the pressure range 10.7 - 14.9 psi.
The STANT 11233 will fit the radiator but it's spec. is higher at 14 - 18 psi which is not necessarily a good thing :confused2:
