and this one too:

I have both a Ballistic and a Shorai. The former is in the VMax, the latter, my FZR1000. I had a positive terminal snap in the Ballistic while I was using it in the 'Max. I also had the same battery in the FZR1000, and swapped it into the 'Max. The Tucker/Rocky rep warranteed the Ballistic though the shop owner said they might not. I then bought a Shorai and like it OK, though it isn't rated as-high CCA as the Ballistic.

I don't have to worry about the temps here in So. FL sapping powwer from the battery as RaWarrior mentioned. I don't ride when it's in the low 40's or 30's, and that is a pretty-rare day here, a few a year, that's it.

Just don't buy a lead-acid battery, get something from a reputable supplier and you should be all-right. I have the Odyssey east-coast distributor about 4 mi from my house, and stopped-by to speak w/them, but couldn't get them to sell me a PC680, they just referred me to a local dealer. When I tried to buy one from that Yamaha dealer, the price was identical to what my local independent shop was going to charge me for the Ballistic, so I bought one of them instead.

Just make sure that if you replace your regulator/rectifier, you get the MOSFET instead of an OEM VMax old-style R/R. Read the threads about where to find one and follow that route.

This is info I took from another threat.

According to this:
http://www.impactbattery.com/motobat...2-upgrade.html
The MotoBatt MB16AU ($103) only has 230 CCA, that's better than the Stock YUASA which has 200 CCA, but definitely not a Monster Amount of CCA IMO.

The Odyssey PC680 ($185) has quite a bit more Cranking Amps
http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc680.htm
680 cranking amps for 5 seconds
595 cranking amps for 10 seconds
525 cranking amps for 20 seconds
Cold Cranking Amps - 220 (this is there actual rated CCA but they claim this number is irrelevant)

This is the battery I was turn on to below buy few other's here.

And the UB12180 ($36.00) has 283 CCA: I bought 2 of these and using them in 2 motorcycles.
http://www.apexbattery.com/universal...ery-d5745.html

All 3 of these are Sealed Lead Acid AGM Batteries and any of them would work well on a VMax.

There's UB12220 AH-22 the same size that will the vmax to; and this 1 I use
in my lawn tractor.

UB12180 battery so far for me the best battery in my vmax and my 77 kz1000. UB12220 I was going to install in my vmax but put in the lawn tractor.

Dman999 turn me on to UB12180 to save some money. it been a great battery
so far to. I install it April of 2013 - and jump start my friends harley bike of the battery install in my bike. And 1 day lift the key in the bike with the lights on for about 3 hours motor crank right up.

I've got the 22 AH model Dennis. It's a great battery, and cheap. For once you get more for less. That's not usually the case. I only charge it if I leave the key on by mistake. No trickle charge, not even in winter. I do start my bike at least every 2 weeks in winter though. This battery is more powerfull than the 16 AH
Yuasa, that's for sure. Lead acid batteries suck. Why deal with one?

I'm think I'm going to grab that UB12220 22 Ah Model when my current UB12180 18 Ah Dies.
430 CCA on a long lasting battery for about $50 sounds good to me. :D
