No Vmax still out in Texas on my Wing. I am gonna start heading back towards Tennessee Saturday or Sunday. I have another customer from Florida coming thru Saturday and dropping off his Vmax with my wife so will have a little more work when I get home.

An F100.

Installed new Odyssey battery. Only part I had to buy other than starter clutch bolts...love these reliable Yamahas

I drilled out Beveled and tack welded The Round into the high peg/motor guard. That’s just a small amount of bondo I think it should hold up fairly well
I don't know what body filler you are using. But I would use some type of finishing glazing body filler. It's a lot creamier smoother than regular body filler. Sorry to hear about losing your father. I just lost my grandmother a few months ago she was my second mother an best friend. She was the last grandparent I had left. Fuck just typing makes me miss her.
 
Inspected some shift parts. 2 of 3 forks are bad, as is the drum and one of the shift fork rods. Broke carb rack into singles for a cleaning.

The Sadness is incredibly painful, it’s strange the only thing in life that is absolute and always has been absolute is the hardest thing to deal with. My wife lost her grandmother 2 months ago. She was 97 years old and boy did that Woman have a good run. I’m sorry for your loss head up this thing that we call Life. Well it’s not just some accident if this is possible you and I sitting discussing an and unbearable sadness then why would Our salvation be so incredibly off or far fetched to believe.

Cleaned the pistons in a pair of 6 pot sumitomo callipers.... but should I replace the pads?

These measure 8-8.5 mm thick and depending on the manufacturer, new ones are 8.5-10mm.

Whilst I'd hate to spend money unnecessarily, I'm thinking of replacing anyways to avoid any damage to the discs that may be caused by unevenly worn pads.

Whaddya think?

You are right on your thoughts.

Through experience of changing discs, pads, callipers on bike and cars, old or uneven pads do cause scores on disks. I have a small milling machine and flatten them out that way, but only if the disks are not that great as old pads composite materials breaks down and again causes scores. So new or good disks and callipers tells me to renew the pads. It’s just what I do, but each to their own mate.
 
If you can afford it, replace them w/name-brand pads, like OEM Yamaha, Vesrah, EBC, SBS, or other name brand. If bucks are tight, you could lightly dress the pads to a smooth even surface and keep an eye on 'em.

FA190HH I believe, '94-'95 FZR1000 for the HH pads fitting Sumitomo.

Your wear grooves show a lot of friction material left.
 
Got my carbs put back on from overhaul this winter, changed oil, antifreeze, fuel filter, put the battery in and it fired right up! Just need to sync the carbs now, the starter was gone thru-I made a solid ground for the brush plate-what a difference now, I don't think it ever cranked over that good!
 
V-Max 1200 has been sitting for a few weeks. Checked the tire pressures and took it to run some errands. Now have the (modded goldwing) battery on a Noco genius smart charger. Took the VMAX 1700 out as well to stretch its legs. Surprised how much softer the Gen1 saddle is compared to the Gen 2...
 
I finally got around to installing new valve cover gaskets, did a coolant flush, and synched my carbs....went for a ride, first one since lowering and installing the mini apes, and looks like ill finally force myself to install the progressive front spring kit. Big thanks to Sean for the extended lines(only took me a year to do it...)

Finally Made it back from Texas nice little 2,724 mile ride. I did not do a ton of riding while I was there since it was mainly to be with family. I need to get back to work now & finish up one from Florida I was putting a new engine in when I had to leave & I had another one dropped off from Florida while I was gone that another shop screwed up the carbs on .

So, valves are adjusted, new valve cover gaskets fitted, slowly starting to assemble my Maxie. Yesterdays mini-task:

these are Oehilns shocks and especially chosen because the length is adjustable. Since Maxie and me are located in strict Austria (Europe) it is really hard to find shocks which are able to get homoligation AND longer than the original.

Longer ones make Maxie a bit better useable for our mountain roads.Additionally to the 17" rims my VMax should be a lot better.
