I need to replace my fork seals has anyone heard of
doubling up on the seals? I have a few friends that ride
Harleys and they said it works better on their bike.
Any input ?
Thanks,
Chris

No real practical way of getting them to double up with our fork design.

LOL Harley's need 2 seals on EVERYTHING they make...

:rofl_200:

One seal will suffice. Just make sure your tubes are free of burrs and pits and OEM and ONLY OEM seals will work just fine.

Thanks guys,

I'd never heard of it before but have never changed
fork seals before either. If I go to progressive spring
in the front with the 1" drop will I get a rougher ride ?
I reach the ground fine now.
Thanks,
Chris

Slightly but the added benefits of the better springs MORE than make up for it. lowering doesn't hurt the ride. The harder springs do. I would also run some Silkolene 15wt oil in them. You'll be amazed.

I am running Race-Techs but I like straight rate (not progressive) wound springs.

Gluck!

Thanks Chris,
Thinking about progressives but in stock length as
I hear its kind of a pain to get it on the center stand plus
I couldn't afford the rear shocks now. I just ordered a seat
from Sean. :eusa_dance:
Would I get any adverse handling if I did lower the front but
not the rear for a year ?
Thanks,
Chris

I lowered my fork springs 2", have stock rear shocks, added drag bars and a slightly lowered seat. IMO it handles much better now, feels like the front end is better planted in the corners, more confidence inspiring. The riding position could be a factor here too but the improvement of the progessive springs and 15wt silkolene fork oil I think are what I'm feeling.
Here's a couple of pics to see the change in attitude it brings too.

Lowering the front and not the rear will speed up you steering. Meaning, the bike will want to fall easier in the corner. This CAN make it a bit twitchy sometimes to. 1 inch wouldn't be bad at all though. I'd drop it. Take the center stand off and put it on when you need it. It removes a ton of weight!
