Need to lift bike. Purchased w/o center stand

I don't see why the tabs would have needed to be ground off. I have always worried about lifting the bike with a lift using the exhaust pipes. You don't run in to any issues lifting the bike that way? No stress on the pipes?

A few after market exhaust systems don't fit with the center stand tabs still on the frame.
And I have used that same style lift for years (so have a lot of other Vmax owners with aftermarket and stock pipes) and have never had an issue with the pipes.
What exhaust system is on your Max ?

I am believe stock headers with Cobra Slip-ons.

You'll be fine then and you could weld the center stand tabs back on if you wanted to.
