Soldering gun question

Why does the gun seem to work great if I'm using a new Tip but after it has been used I go to use the gun the next time and it just does not seem to heat up?:ummm:

Are you tining the tip??

Clean it with a wet sponge/rag after each use. I light file will help too.

They come loose through heat cycling especially when new ; )
