I think for most that the general rule on whether to run or not simply boils down to...."Can I get away unhurt?" Espousing lengthy moral arguments about right & wrong are cool, but the bottom line IMO is.....CAN I MAKE IT!

Sorta like not messing around on the old lady....is it any great length of moral fiber that keeps most guys from doing it? Hell no, it's the total embarassment and hassle of bring home a 'dose'!! :rofl_200:

Situations dictate a logical choise. No matter what they are.
It's easy to say, I'll go w.o.t. and be gone. But,think my bike might make the rotory at 140 or so? That'a a No for a Pro. And best of luck to anyone that goes that route. I prefer not to see or hear any of my Brothers get hurt. A cop is telling me to pull over but he's facing the other direction? I've been in that situation too, and the acceleration of the Max is something to behold.I'm hoping it increases a bit with the new 180/55/17 over stock.
Or, my old lady is in Texas, I'm in Massachusetts. Can I pull it off. She looks to dumb to find my house again, neiborhood people are sleeping, I think. She smells ok. Got the Viagra. I'd never do that to Tina, most likely.
Now, should I ask Santa for a radar detector, NOS system, or pack of rubbers?

I haven't been stopped on the Max yet but I always get looks due to the Kerker and the 1.5 baffle. I have to be extra careful because I have a speedo difference due to my YZF 600 front wheel.

I have a toll road here that's good for a 150+ blast for about 3 miles. I'm terrified of the wobble though. I had one at 120 two years ago and it scared the s**t outta me so I don't push it much.

In my area they tend to go after the Gixxers, newbs riding V-RODS that tend to jump off the lights like they're in a drag race.
Chopper guys with very loud pipes in school zones.
Also last but not least, the dudes with the feather mohawks on their helmets.

did you get that from kerker? how do you like the sound/power if any difference form the 1" or what ever the small kerker pipe is..... was just thinking of doing that to mine, dont want the full comp baffle, a little to much attention for my liking.
 
The stock baffle is a 2.5. I think the only way to go is the 1.5 comp baffle for power and sound unless you live in a place with a strict HOA. You are correct the baffle comes from Kerker or Sean might have a new or used one stashed somewhere.
My great joy is blasting the napkins and empty plastic cups off the tables at the outside patio of my favorite bar when I fire up the bike or back it in during parking.

Plus my friends don't ride behind me on the freeway because they say they can feel the air turbulence from the pipes especially past 75 mph. [I think that one is an exaggeration though]

My buddy's '80-80c.i. H-D Shovelhead Low Rider he bought new here in so. FL is the same way for his R.U.B. friends, they don't like to ride behind it because even though it doesn't smoke, it does emit exhaust-borne oil which tends to show-up on your clothing if you ride behind him.

I used to have one of those helmet mohawk things, it was on my offroad mx-style helmet.

I always assumed it would just blow off at v-boost enabled speeds straight away so I never bothered. In fact when I first got my GS450, my starter bike and I didn't have a specific bike helmet, I took it off my offroad one since I thought it would blow off. Yep, when I started riding I used my bright blue quad helmet. It didn't take me too long to go buy a true MC helmet, those visors are big sails on the highway.

I think I ended up losing it from a low hanging branch that I didn't duck enough, the branch slid over the top of my lid and took the mohawk thing off with it. I didn't notice until I got home.

But compared to what things were back in the 80's, if you did that in NY now you'd be in jail for a long time. One "racing on the highway" (40+mph speeding on highway here...so 105mph+) is an instant license suspension and vehicle impound, along with a gargantuan fine. There's a similar "stunting" charge they can nail you with if the front wheel is off the ground, which is nearly as bad as racing.

My 17-over speeding ticket cost me well over $300....after it was reduced to a stop sign violation and still landed me 3 points. Fuck new york and it's broke ass government. That was on my 500cc Magna thou....it couldn't dust a crown vic and I knew it, so I didn't try. Have yet to stop for a popo on the Vmax.
