The older members of this forum saw a lot of history happen...
Cuban Missle Crisis, The Kennedy assassinations, Martin Luther King's assassination, Vietnam, Moon Landings, Watergate, many presidential elections..... There are surely many more.
Most of that history was made real to us by the efforts of Walter Cronkite. He was once described as "the most trusted man in America". With good reason. He reported the events fairly, without bias or comment, and his delivery of the news had a calming influence, even when the news made it seem the world was going mad.
He was simply the best there ever was at what he did, and he will be missed by many.
RIP Walter Cronkite.
