If you purchased a BattleStar pipe thinking you purchased the same pipe that was bolted to the bike that made the 8 second run, you may be the victim of a classic "Bait and Switch".

Picture of the Pre-Production Model:

I extensively tested this pipe and it did not make any big horsepower.
I think the only difference between this one and the final production model was the welded merge slips.

The BattleStar Bike on the V-Boost cover:

After I sent this back to UFO, they found the rear merge collector was keeping the bike from making power.

Comparison:

The production model has a couple of redundant Y slip merges that are shaped like a "U" .
The BattleStar has a revised rear Y slip merge that is more "V" shaped .

Picture of the current production model BattleStar Pipe from the PlanetVmax website:

BattleStar Bike vs BattleStar Production
Comparison photo:

The difference is visible on this photo too.

Another Comparison:

The length of the slips are also a tell-tale sign there is a difference.

If you have purchased the BattleStar pipe in the last 90 days or so, please post a photo of it so we can see if the revision made it into production. There will be more to follow on this one.

I see what you mean. On the battlestar exhaust page, he posts several pictures of "your" exhaust, with the sharper y-collector, then his 8 sec bike, then some more of the sharper style. I never would have noticed the difference if you hadn't pointed it out.

Then again, if I had noticed, I would have called/emailed about it. Ebay has taught me "when in doubt, ask". Don't assume anything. It's easier to send a question and know for sure than possibly end up disappointed.

:ummm: Hey vmaxguru, I checked with Jon about this post. Here's his reply:Thanks , Steve. I already found it. Just had to put my nose in the air to
sniff out the assholes. Always leads to the same "toilet"

Good 'ol Vmaxforum.net. Home to Sean Morley and the latest asswipe. Tim
Nash, the little self serving bitch that is still crying because I was the
first one to make an 8 second pass. Trying to demerit me anyway he can now.
Anyone who would self-proclaim themselves as a "GURU" I should have been
suspect of. Perhaps I will return the favor and post the Gary Glisson dyno
charts showing the horrific mapping he put into the "reflashed" ECU and the
map he put into the Power Commander to the point I could not even make a
clean pull on the dyno. This is the dragbike that was up on ebay for sale
that sold for 10K. That nitrous bike made 125 hp when I bought it from
Gary with the "Nash 2nup" on it. I have since sorted it and guess what ? It
is the one on my website that makes 282 hp with 174 # torque. Some Fricken
Guru !

Anyway, over a year ago when he was still rubbing my balls to get info on
how to get a bike down the dragstrip and I was talking to him about the ram
air scoops and grill inserts and such . So, he decides that he is going to
put a set of butterflies on a throttle shaft and take a picture of it with
lights behind it and act like he invented the injector butterfly assemblies.
PLEASE>>>>>>>>>>>They were around before he was born! So, I guess he
invented them shortly after HE invented the wheel !

Chapter 2, I finish MY ram air scoops for the Gen 1 VMAX and make a
completed and fully functioning butterfly assembly available for one of MY
products , the VGAS bikes, and he sends me an email telling me "This is a
stern warning not to produce them ? He better check his medication.

So,,,,,,,,,these postings you will be seeing from him are his way of lashing
out in a very childlike behavior.

As for my evolution of the Battlestar pipes ? Man, what a feeble effort to
demerit me. I have over 320 pulls on the dyno with the BattleStar in an
effort to keep evolving the pipe to the next level of performance. You mean
to tell me I can't change one of MY designs to create a better product ? I
can create any number of versions of one of MY products that I choose. Just
because I sell a production BattleStar pipe with the same basic design as
the one on my race bike does not mean they are identical.

Common sense here is unfortunately something this fricken MORON Tim Bash is
lacking as well as his tuning abilities. Race craft exhausts also do not
have baffle cores like street production pipes I sell. So I guess I am also
guilty of selling pipes and not removing the street baffle cores as well and
sending them out with wide fricken open megaphones ! What an ass !

Do me a favor , Steve copy and paste this to that thread . I will not be
baited to go up on that site. Matter of fact last time shit like this
happened from the "Club Toto" camp I could not register or post a comment
back........interesting. I will also email you his threat to me. Perhaps
that will back up that fact what I am telling you it TRUE.........again.

Thanks for watching my back, Jon.

It would not be in your best interest to copy my idea and pursue manufacturing it.

I did nothing to you but walk away. Shame on you Jon Cornell.

Look, pal. Get this straight. In your words, I DID NOTHING TO YOU ! Back in the day, when you used to talk with me almost daily , I told YOU about how I had butterfly assemblies on the drawing board.........for years ! YOU were not the FIRST to think of this intake for the Max. Stop being so damn full of yourself. You also were not the first person to have an "idea" of what a butterfly assembly should look like. Those were around before you were born. You stick two round plates on a shaft and stick them in the front of a Vmax scoop and you have a product ? Please.......... I have drawings dating back well before your "idea". I have a functioning product , and a complete assembly , housing, and function. You ? A fricken picture of two plates with a light behind it. Nice work !

I don't know what the hell got into you,Tim Nash to turn on me. I did nothing to you but enlighen you on how to get down the race track on a Vmax . YOU get into MY ARENA of dragracing the Vmax .........and now you want to get into my sandbox AGAIN and start selling Vmax products, and you are threatening ME ??? Ever since I made the 8 second pass you showed your true color. Not a friend in my book. Just an opportunist trying to beat me at one of my goals. I told you what it meant to me to be the first to make that pass, and there you were trying to beat me to it. Nice guy, what a pal. I email you and you don't even have the sack to reply. Like a fricken kid, you take your basketball and go home. Grow up .

Now it all makes sense. How could a true God loving person self proclaim themselve as a Guru. How fricken erogant can you get. Pride cometh before a fall.

No reply necessary . You did not even have the integrity to email me back when I wrote and asked what the hell happened to you
You "invented" the injector butterfly assembly? ................get yourself to a DR.

I was a man about answering your email , more than I can say about you.

GOODBYE !

*****************************************************************

Mr. Cornell,

You really have some fixation with balls, don?t you? You mention it in most of your writings with a sickening repetition. It?s not that I don?t have ?balls? to say something to you, Jon. I am three times your size. Do you really think your stature is such that it would humble me or my fortitude? I walked away and kept quiet because I am a God fearing man that realized you have a family. I know this because while I was literally busy editing together a family video for you, unbeknownst to me you quietly plotted to beat me in some fantasy competition between us to get to 8 seconds. Something you failed to mention in the ?daily? phone conversations, I suppose. I never really set my sights on 8 seconds. Until something big came along, I knew it would require building an all-out drag bike. Not my forte?. I prefer the street bike approach. If I seriously would have attempted it, you would have lost. What truthfully happened? I was too busy supporting you by doing the home work that you couldn?t. I was helping you get to 8 seconds. No one wanted you to have it more than I did. Well, you gave me the typical reward for a good deed as it did not go unpunished. You did what you set out to do. You out ran me Jon. There you are! Out front and all alone.

Your objective was made obvious by your reply. You have some sick sense of satisfaction in out running your biggest supporter because he was in your arena. I suppose this was a brilliant accomplishment in that ?book? of yours. Why you needed to do this, I simply cannot contemplate. This sort of back-stabbing defies reason and seems utterly stupid. When I was not busy using my talents to help you or promote your products, I tried to set records with your products. I didn?t charge you a dime nor did I make a penny. I shared everything with you. Unlike you, I had no secrets. I was the true friend. You can?t even give me the proper credit that I deserve for sticking with you after I found out you had been blinded by your objective in this faux competition and secretly slipping off to the track to out run me. Me, Jon. Out run me!?! The friend you talked to every day. If you would have been honest and let me know when you was trying, I might have even flew up to turn wrenches or help you tune. Nobody had helped you any more than I did. If you can overcome your paranoid schizophrenia long enough to think about this, my true colors are in my actions. I supported you before, during and after the 8 second run. I don?t think I need to explain the ?before?, so let me prove the ?during?. You remember who you called from the track when your ?masterpiece? front wheel had a screwed up sensor and it was sending your bike into limp home mode? I dug thru the service manual to find the diagnostic codes while being astonished you was at the track and had not mentioned those plans. As far as not supporting you after your 8 second run, you have a nice video of that run that I edited for you. Although I was troubled when I learned of your previous covert attempts, I was genuinely happy for you when you achieved it. I posted about it in the forums. I posted about it on my web site. Remember the ?I can?t use enough exclamations!!!!? Probably convenient to forget all that, isn?t it? If you selectively forget things like that, it gets easy to twist me into me being a sore loser of your faux competition. I still have the e-mail wherein you promised me an exclusive story with pictures for my website. What happens? I edit the 8 second video for you as promised and the exclusive story went in V-Boost. You got your video from me and sought your accolades elsewhere. The epiphany occurred when I read the V-Boost article, and I quote, ?Never let them see you coming?. Although others may not have known, I knew where that ego maniacal dig was aimed. This is the exact moment I became utterly disgusted with you. I decided to cut my losses and walk away.

You honestly want to mention integrity? You are well aware of my cardinal knowledge of the way you operate. At first, you seemed you were on the up and up. When it came time to explain your bikes setup, what you say you did and what really happens didn?t jive. I think you knew you were starting to insult my intelligence and this explains the circumventing the V-Boost article. Although I was disgusted with you, I opted to avoid being openly negative. Since then, I had the unpleasurable experience of watching you misguide, misdirect and outright lie. I refrained from any public comment, but that is about to change. I am not in business of selling motorcycle parts and therefore I am not in your sand box, yet. Currently, I still enjoy the latitude that accompanies being a private individual that is entitled to an open opinion. After all, this was the entire concept the Guru website was designed around. Remember that website Jon? It?s the one that you submitted your parts to.

You really want to fault me for calling myself the ?Guru?? Wait, aren?t you the one trying to steal my greatest accomplishments? I know you have Gary Glisson?s bike which is equipped with one of only three Beta Test ECU?s that exist. When you found out what it could do, you think I don?t know you underhandedly contacted my partner to attempt a joint venture into the ECU Re-Flash business? Thank God he is a man of integrity. Who was in what sand box then, Jon? While I am completing the work you are trying to cash in on, you somehow think it?s within reason to copy my butterflies that serve as my new logos marque? I still have the e-mail where you went crazy over the design and wanted to sell these so bad. Now, I see just how bad. A V-Max specialist for 30 years and you never developed anything like it until I came along. I did not threaten you. I was trying to keep you from making a grave mistake. It?s called intellectual thievery, Jon. It?s a small community we reside in and you are going to make yourself look stupid if you continue to copy other people?s ideas. You were concerned with being called a copy-cat when you redesigned the Cat-Sass to be like another system because it made better numbers. Nobody caught onto things like this, so maybe I should ?enlighten? them.

Let?s explore your ?opportunistic? comment and for whom it is a better fit. My only charge for my video editing service was placing my web logo on the video and hosting it on my site. Instead of learning to operate your own video edit software and making your own videos, you rip mine from YouTube, resize it as to remove my logo and repost them. Remember that 8 second video I mentioned before? It?s one of them you altered. That?s being opportunistic. Since my logo was my payment and it was copyrighted videos, you removed my payment and stole my work. You are a double dipping thief. Still flashing my tune into your Max Tuners and saying you built the file?? Opportunistic. Do you even have an inkling of how to operate that software? Removing my logo from my photos and posting them to your site all the while apparently hating me for taking my basketball and going home? Hating me while stealing my work? You guessed it, Opportunistic. By the way, just what is my proverbial ?basketball? in this instance, Jon? Is it that I took myself away? I don?t get it. Maybe it was the free ride was taken away. It looks as if you have become seriously disturbed as your brain trust has run dry. You have no fresh ideas or talent to work with, so you steal my videos, my photos and my ideas. In some sick demented way, it seems you are trying to vindicate yourself when this makes me angry. My anger over your thievery does not vindicate you, Jon, and neither does your selective memory.

In retrospect of the vial and utter disrespect contained within your response, I have decided this relationship is irreconcilable. Being associated with you in any manner now makes me feel spiritually and morally dirty. You?re about to see the fortitude I do have. By the time you have read this, others will have done the same as it will be posted in the V-Max forums for all to see. Although it seems distastefully for me to take this public, I find it compulsory to advise others of your doings and I have decided it would be in my best interest to attempt to clear my name of any association with you while doing so. I am not going to remove all the nice YouTube videos I made about UFO, either. Over the past couple years, those videos have went on to be nested in thousands of threads and blogs. I will go back and update them with some ?comments?. I have taken some time to do some research before I replied to you. I will be posting some additional information about your repugnant business practices while I systematically remove you from my website and purge you from my life. You should go unplug the phone now. The truth is about to come out and things are about to get real bad for you, Jon.

I know you too well. I saw what happened to you when Oliver turned on you. The forums rightfully chewed you up and spit you out. So, I know what?s going to happen over the next few days. You are going to stew and lose sleep while this eats at you. If you have any conscience at all, you probably have an awful feeling in your gut right now. That?s shame and guilt. Well Pal. Enjoy. It?s what YOU DESERVE!

Pride cometh before the fall. Et tu, Brute?

+1 Hat. I looked long and hard for suitable pipes for my 89. I liked the features of a lot of brands including ufo. But, the verbal attacks, bad rep for service if there is a problem?
Marks pipes just arrived. Great product from a guy with a great rep.

I just don't get UFO! What a way to destroy your business with selling Snake Oil! Tim See you at your shop this end of February or the first of March~~~

Randi

PS lets talk NOS too~~~~:worthy:

I was there and witnessed all the many dyno hours Tim put into the Max Tuner R&D for UFO (and many other projects). Our bikes were the 1st guinea pigs at the Bradenton drags. Tim soon worked out a better map and reflashed my Max Tuner for me later. I also witnessed the secret work being done on a nitrous system that worked with the Max Tuner. A one off that went somewhere... ;)

That being said, Jon is Jon, hard headed and goal oriented. He loves being first, damn the cost or friendships, business comes first.. Being the fastest & quickest with the Gen2 Vmax guarantees sales of UFO products.. That's the bottom line & Jon Cornel is a bottom line guy. I don't agree with some of his business practices, but they ARE effective..

Now for Tim's side (what I KNOW).. Tim has bucket loads of integrity.. maybe too much for his own good. Not many people out there (in the business world) have that kind of integrity.. This has caused Tim a lot of heartache more than once.. While I do see his point(s)..in the previous post.. in the real world, most business's are ruthless if they're to survive. Tim isn't in the Vmax parts business tho, so this really doesn't apply to him. He's just a guy with a hobby and an genuine interest in the all new Vmax. He has put so much of his FREE time into major developments of the new beast, that he may have forgotten, or overlooked how ruthless the business arena is..

To this day I count Tim as my friend. He wears a very special leather jacket that was mine until the Bradenton drag event (it fit him better than me anyways).. so I certainly feel for him in the events that unfolded, and have become public. I can't say I didn't see this coming tho & can only hope BOTH parties will think before further airing any more dirty laundry.
Nothing good can come from it.. and sometimes the bigger man is the one who walks away.. After all, you reap what you sow, and we ALL know, Karma is a BITCH! ;)

Tim,
What a shame that something could go so sideways. I have always thought of you as a man of integrity. Your web site and the testimonies of many people have backed this up. Best of luck with Gurued Gear. I keep checking the site about once a month.

Well Shit,

Tim, I have to apologize. I really thought you and Jon were friends and I made assumptions that were wrong. Maybe you were and it's obvious now that if there had existed any friendship it's long long gone.

I did end up going to race Jon at the track day event and should have expected the situation he had set. I knew I was handicapped by our weight differences but didn't realize he was stripping the bike down so far as to make it impractical for street use.

Had my personal bike not broken the transmission the evening before I think he would have had his hands full even with a bike far better suited for street driving. As it was I still wasn't all that far off his passes (in my personal opinion) using a friends bike.

I'm not sure what you have planned for the butterflies but we did a similar setup using stock scoops quite some time back. I can only find pictures back to 2003 though I know it was done a few years prior to that even.

I love this kind of stuff as I am always an upfront kind of guy. I'd like to think I have plenty of intergrity too. I don't invent all the stuff I sell - far from it. BUT, we do have ideas of our own and get ideas from others. If I can improve on someone elses ideas and make it our own we move where we can.

I know we have been helping another Gen 2 owner with some exhaust setups that you have been working with. From what info I have it sounds like the system will be very promising. I don't know who is going to sell the setup and if it's us that's fine and if it's you or the other guy that's fine too. I just like helping out if I can.

just from a 3rd person stand point... being completely neutral..

i took tim as being the loyal/honest guy

no offense jon but youre reputation is just too bad. and it doesnt come from nowhere..

and what tim said in his huge post.. we all had an idea of what was going on over the last couple years but noone was for sure just how bad it was until he came out about it.

ive never heard tim post anything bad about you, and i actually thought you guys were friends... he mentioned UFO in practically all of his videos.. which have THOUSANDS of views. im actually kinda shocked that you arent sending tim a check every month after all that.

and i also dont think anyone cares that youre changing/redesigning your product, everyones ok with that, but at least say something maybe have a model number change or (version2) or something like that. and when all of this is going on youre not defending yourself or explaining yourself??? that just goes to show how youd handle a customer who was having problems... you cant just ignore someone and hope theyd go away... youd never sell anything again..

and jon even if youre right about the vmax scoop thing, and thats currently pending until some facts and dates are laid out on this forum, you still have sooo many more things to worry about right now.

and i also wondered why there were 2 different 8 sec pass videos... and no offense, i did wonder why the UFO one was worse than the guru one... i figured if it was YOUR footage then YOUR video would have been nicer... surpriiiiseee!!!

and i would not challenge tim to a game of chess if you know what i mean

p.s. did you use nitrous or not in the 8 sec pass!!!! the evidence says yes but if so many people asked about it why didnt you say yes or no??

Folks,

I loathe most of the rubbish that can be posted on these forums and the utter waste of the technology. I do appreciate the accolades, but I do not fully deserve it. I am not without fault. Empathy, in no way, was not my reason for posting this. My reason was to warn others as to the possible outcome of purchasing a BattleStar pipe. Aside from that, I realize I must emasculate myself and formally apologize that I used my talents to promote this company. Bob, you're a menace to society when your on the V-Max, but I have to admit you was right a long time ago and you are right again tonight. That was a very smart response. I had saved the best for last, but for now, I will rest my case.

I was thinking the same thing! You gotta love Jon's arguments, they are always entertaining and bursting with attitude. I mean, he talks about balls, gives people nicknames (toto, lol), and has catch phrases. Only problem is he sounds too stupid to make you think he can actually do anything but ride a bike. I can't take that away from him, it seems like he can ride.

I've never bought anything from him, but I did consider it long ago. Then I found this site and found Chris's rant, then I found some others, then I read the whole Mario deal. The consideration was over after that. Now, I read this story and its just the icing on the cake.

I guess you can argue that its one man's word against anothers but after all the stories can anyone actually believe Jon? I know I don't. I typically don't buy into much of what I read but there is so much out there that is negative about Jon its hard to deny.

All I can say is that I feel sorry for Tim. Just glancing over the guru site you can see how much work he has put into this bike. Then to get nothing in return!? Money is one thing but credit, and thanks would be nice.

Tim, you know I was all about having fun with my Vmax, but it did catch up with me (license gone), and I sold it a few days ago.. It was the best time of my life being part of the Gen2 Vmax introduction & a lot of what I did was to test the limits of the bike to the extreme. I'm over it now, but I know you're not. I hate to see what's going on here, but I know how you feel.. Been there done that.. Put my rep on the line also.. Any way, I think you're above this & I'm sure there's a lesson to be learned. Just be your own man & let God sort out the rest. You know he will ;)

I dont understand how everyone is picking on Jon? I have been to his shop and talked with him first hand. he is a stand up guy. I bought a fork brace from him once and he told me how wonderful he is. GTFO!

Chris this thread needs to be linked to the you know where thread

Enough said with Jon talking shit on Sean Morley. If you have a problem with Sean Morley you have issues.

Where are all Jon's defenders now?
