G?day fellow maxers (first post),
The other day my fuel pump started making the priming sound after kicking over the engine. You know the sucking sound the fuel pump makes when you turn the ignition? Well that ticking noise normally stops when you hit the starter and now the bloody thing sounds like it?s pumping all the time (it starts pumping again after the engine starts)? Not sure what to do, I live in Brisbane and I?ve already taken the bike to one of my local Yamaha dealers for a service but they didn?t know if replacing the fuel pump would fix the problem so weren?t keen on charging me 500 bucks just to find out. I can get the pump for around $160 US delivered to Australia from the US but I?m not sure if it will do the trick as the bike still runs fine like the pump is doing its job. Does anyone think this could be a control unit problem? I just don?t know how to test the control unit? Any ideas or tips would be tops.
Thanks for all and any advice.
