With lower production numbers coming out of the factory, the avg age of existing Harley's on the street will begin to rise. This will result in the need for at least an additional 1100 Harley mechanics to keep them all running?? :whistlin:

Looks like a win-win situation. Less Harleys on the streets=better Ozone/less Smog. It will however have a negative effect on the sale of oil-dry...

I would not be surprised to see them go completly under relatively soon. In this economy what bank will give a loan on a bike that is REALLY worth less than half it's asking price? Is the fatboy really an 18K bike?

Combine that with these 100000 sq ft dealerships and 50-100 people working in them and unless you are selling LOTS of shit your in trouble.

The bigger you are today the faster you will fall....

Maybe a bowling ball company will buy them?:eusa_dance:

You said a mouth full there brother and oh so true...

1. I think Willi G and his disciples f'ed up with making these way overpriced status symbols so freakin' expensive but surprisingly obtainable through HD Financial Services. This sounds sort of like our current housing market debacle don't it? They both offered a product that was obtainable to people that in a lot of cases really couldn't afford them. I think the outcome is pretty obvious here. Your local Cycle Trader has already devoted half of it's pages devoted to HD already and can probably expect even more in the future. They are the real winners here.....along with the oil dry folks:rofl_200:

2. Hell no a Fatboy isn't worth 18k but again, to each his on blah blah blah. In HD's case, the PR people work very hard to sell an image, not a superior product. When 75% of your customer base is sheep it is not hard to keep the business going but as we can see they are still having problems.

3. These huge dealerships and cute little boutiques in malls make more on selling all of they're HD Licenced products than they do selling bikes. It's sad the lengths the herd will go to show they're "Harley Pride".Underwear, beef jerky and even coffee. C'mon! :ummm:Obviously this is'nt cutting the mustard for them either because they are still in trouble.

4. I don't think AMF could or would touch these clowns today. Maybe they can get the Government to help them out again. Why not, they're giving our money out to every other failed business out there,:bang head:

HD needs to hire Obama's advertising crew, they lured millions into thinking he was the better product, maybe what ever they did would work for HD too.

I cant see why everyone didnt slow down on production when things started to go bad , everyone has been predicting this for years .
Its seems to be look at us we have to sack all our staff give us some money instead of we fucked up and kept making things even tho noone was buying.:confused2:

Or maybe most of these Harley owners that bought a new one arent gonna buy another over weight underperforming ship anchor:rofl_200:

I wouldn't throw HD into the same box as Obama. I think what he is doing and going to keep on trying to do our country is 10 times more shameful than anything HD has ever built and sold to the motorcycling populace. Although some HD followers maybe under a similar illusion that what they have is the best thing going. The change he speaks of is socialism, with a evolutionary driving force and a new color scheme!
I just hope this country has enough coin to pay for all the bling Obama is gonna bolt on his slow ass, overweight goverment. :bang head::bang head::bang head::bang head::bang head::bang head::bang head::bang head:

Because they both suck, LOL. Ok ok, back to the action.....I will not fake the funk here. This was borrowed from another site but the message still rings true.

Harley Davidson is a monumental failure as a motorcycle manufacturer, especially as an American motorcycle manufacturer. America has ideals and standards that Harley likes to claim that it lives up to but in truth, it doesn't even come close to being able to be considered in any way, shape or form as being "American" or at least not the "America" that I grew up learning about. Harley Davidson may represent "America" but if it does, then it represents the Richard Simmons "America" rather than the John Wayne "America." Harley Davidson does not and cannot represent what it means to be American because so much of what Harley Davidson represents is anti-American in nature; fat, slow, dumb, outdated, overpriced, loud, weak, heavy, flashy, obsolete ... I could go on and on but if any of those attributes sound to you like they describe traditional America and traditional American values then you need to go back and look at what your own country stands for (or at least what it used to stand for).....end

Like I have previously stated in the past......HD leaves a lot to be desired as a motorcycle but most of my angst comes from the owners. Again, this does not apply to ALL HD owners but the majority are Kool-Aid drinking sheep. The Harley culture demands complete loyalty to the "Motor Company" or be ousted from the herd and basically punished for thinking for yourself. They are told how to dress, what to ride and how to act. They are the complete opposite of individualism and are Conformist with a capital C. Rebels my a$$. On the other hand, I have known some really good guy's that own Harley's. What sets them apart is they can appreciate a variety of motorcycles and don't have the typical "Harley or Nothing" attitude. They are generally friendly and helpful too. I have said enough for now. Damn I love this forum!!!

I can't knock Harley. They have and still do employ Americans, but then again so do the Japanese motorcycle companies. The Harleys do enjoy some definite advantages over our Vmaxes too: comfort, size, weight, loudness, sluggishness, fuel and oil comsumption, stink and smoke. We got 'em beat in exhileration though. That's for sure!

I've seen the Jester T-shirts that have a logo on that I would love to add too.
It would represent the Vmax riders perfect.
" you mock me because I'm different" (insert Vmax logo),..(insert fat tire chromed out trailer queen V-twin).."I smile because I think your all sheep" :punk:

Well sir, I will agree with only two of your so called "advantages". HD has the upper hand with fuel consumption hands down. Max can suck up some gas if you have a heavy hand. Also, I will agree that they might be superior with comfort from the factory, at least compared to the stock seat on the Max. I don't consider size and weight an advantage. There are many people who are trying to find ways to cut all the time. As far as the rest of your "advantages" .....

1. Loudness: Stock Harley's are not loud. If you put a Harley with a nice exhaust system next to a Max with a Kerker system, I will take the Max any day. Harley's may sound fast but are far from it. The bark is much worse than the bite. You can't beat a Max at full throttle with an aftermarket system.

2. Sluggishness??? Compared to what, A VRod destroyer which by the way is another one of their many failures when it comes to cost vs performance. My Max isn't sluggish at all and is bone stock as far as the engine is concerned. V Max and sluggishness are two words don't even sound right in the same sentence. Moving on....

3. Oil consumption: :rofl_200: Are you serious? Harley's are notorious for leaking oil by the puddles all over the place. I have never heard of many Maxes that burned an excessive amount of oil. I am sure that there out there but Max isn't traditionally known for this.

I am not trying to change your mind per se so we can just agree to disagree. It's just my point of view. Take care. :punk:

Robert

I think that was all really sarcasm Dirty,....I should know I'm very privy to that brand of humor....lol
But all your points are valid.

I was thinking that initially but when he included the seat and fuel consumption thing, I assumed he was serious. :confused2: Oh well LOL.
