I just charged the battery on my 86 Vmax and reinstalled it. But when I try to do the last step of reconnecting the negative lead, it throws sparks and the bike is turning over. There is no key in the ignition and the starter switch is clearly off.

Can someone help? Why is the bike trying to turn over and start when I try and reconnect the negative lead? Thanks.

Erik
