Harley's are mostly Jap bikes these days. The only true USA's you'll find are either old, or the owner replaced all the new parts with USA brand parts.

I'll never forget when I was still living in Charleston back in the early 90's, a buddy had just bought a brand new 883 Sportster and we were cruising down to Edisto Island. Suddenly, his bike just died. No power, no nothing.

Imagine his embarrasment of having me tow his Harley back through town with my ZX11.

Imagine his rage when he found out the Hitachi control module had been defective.

Regards,
Tom

YOU KNOW TOM , THATS A GREAT STORY , YOU JUST CAN'T MAKE SHIT LIKE THAT UP, I WOULD OF LOVED TO SEEN THAT, TO BAD YOU DON'T HAVE THAT ON FILM ! THAT WOULD BE GREAT TO POST ON THIS FORUM ! I ALSO HAD A ZX1100 , GREAT BIKE !

I would have sold my soul for a video camera back then. I do remember it like it was yesterday...at one time, the funniest thing I'd ever been party to, but on the other the sick feeling for my buddy Butch.

That bike wasn't 3 weeks old, man. I don't think he even had 600 miles on it yet because he hadn't taken it back in for it's first service.

I do remember him saying, "Don't go through downtown, Tom. I swear to God, I'll shoot you dead."

He would have, too. :biglaugh: I used to rib him about it from time to time and threaten to tell everybody. He said, "Go ahead. Take out an add in the paper. Who the hell is ever going to believe you?"

He was a good guy. I miss him dearly.

Regards,
Tom
