Hey folks:

You folks are awesome, so lemme ask you something that's bugging me:

I'm cleaning up a set of R1 front calipers, and I'm trying to put a seal back in (one that goes into the region that the piston goes into) but I CAN'T FREAKIN' DO IT!!!!!

Once I get a part of the seal into the groove and try to continue, it's impossible to get it all in!

Is there a trick to doing this properly?

Thanks muchly.

The seal may have swelled and could be bad. You have to work them in there and they will sometimes bunch up at the last part until you get them to "pop" into place.

I replace when splitting the caliper. I don't want to deal with the likely leak.

The R1's are a one piece unit. Much more difficult to get the seals in than the 2-piece max stockers.

I agree with Sean. It does take some time and patience. Something I don't have much of. I did get mine back in after having my R1's chromed.

Thanks again, Sean, for letting me borrow the tool! I found them online and I'm thinking of ordering one just to add to my collection.

Kent.
