I work at a large chilled water plant and we are looking for a good industrial paint which does not require a respirator to apply. We will brush and roll it on interior steel and black iron pipes. I think latex has come a long way, but have no idea if we can replace our oil based paints with one.

Does one exist? Or does our entire crew need to be fitted with a respirator mask with organic vapor cartridge?

Thanks

Sure... Most, if not all high pressure cylinders (Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon) are painted with a water based/latex paint.

If your crew needs to be fitted with such a mask, let me know. Our safety sales specialists are certified to do the fit testing. I was once as well, but haven't done it in years. We service the IA City area out of Cedar Rapids.

We have a person here at the U of I who fits them.. But we would rather avoid that.

Do you know the manufacture or brand name of the cylinder paint you mentioned Chris? Or who I can contact?

Don't laugh......Ask Sherwin Williams.....

They have a pile of industrial coatings......we used them a lot at the factory I used to work in....
