Hi all.... I started this thread about a year ago, I had intended to maintain it. Unfortunately, things got real good and f-d up for me, ended up getting divorced from the wife of 12 years etc... You get the picture.... Sometimes life is really a biatch. I haven't logged in quite a while for these reasons. I was pleasantly supprised that the original VMAX registry/ thread is still alive !! Awesome! It looks like another member has started to maintain it... ?? Is this correct??? I hope so.... If someone is maintaining this .. Thank you!! Please keep up the good job. Yep Bachus, You have been missed but your thread is going strong. I see it being a permanent fixture on this site for it's historical value. I also like the fact that Pinwall and ebay bikes are making the list although they may never roll again. That reminds me, I think Texas SS Tornado has an 85 parts bike up for sale. He should be posting the digits. Also CaptainKyle has picked up a few originals. I missed out on a 1,500 mile 85 from my home state. Never did get the VIN. Maybe someone we know? PATMAX.

On the Dutch Vmax forum we have a discussion about VIN's, especially about how to interpret the numbers.
Imho it should not be possible to find 2 Vmaxxers with the exact same xxxxx000123 number from 1985, but it seems there is at least 1 in te list (Rempage) :ummm:
Its suggested that in production batches for different regions Yamaha started counting all over again. In that case I ask myself why we don't find bikes with the same number more often?

Now someone suggested that the X in JYA1GR00XFA000705 would mean that its an earlier production batch than by example JYA1JH001FA000622.

What are your thoughts abot these 2 issues?

Bacchus, yes I'm the one that took up the task to keep the list going when I saw that you weren't showing up to do it. (Sorry for your personal issues, hope all is better now! We all go through stuff that brings life to a temporary halt.)

I'd like to hand the job back to you so please PM me and I'll give you access to my posts so you can copy and paste the list and keep the coloring, etc., that I've done.
