Has any one tried re-shaping a stock Yamaha mini III windshield?

I like to use it on long rides, but don't like the look, and haven't found an after market I like any better. Although, Exactrep has a sports fly screen that comes close. It's too low though, 14 or 15 inch height would have probably worked great.

I was thinking of trying a heat gun to soften the plastic, then bending it. Has anyone tried this?

no, but my brother just currently made his own shield out of black plastic with a vacuum former, you may be able to ask him if he can help ya out...

That came-out pretty-decent! I smell "Cottage-Industry" supplier here! What other plastics does he have access to in-terms of color, solid/clear/smoke? Priced right, I bet he could stay busy if he wanted to.

For a replacement screen, try a FL supplier, Gustaffson Plastics.

He will make about anything you want.
Here is a screen for us, although when I tried the 'search' function for 'VMax' it didn't show-up, I had to scroll thru the Yamaha listings to find this. There are other choices too. The price is very reasonable, I think. I have bought his products before & have been v. satisfied.

yea i think he only has black for now as he just got the former up and running a few weeks ago. i think he'll get more plastic and try more if theres some demand for it and once he finalizes the process

If my current "new" windscreen works out and if your brother want to try I could send him my Givi screen to add some options to his offerings. The plastic should be easy enough to duplicate, I would include the bracket so he could possibly make something like it as well. I wouldn't mind having a little bigger windscreen in front of me for long trips.

Thanks for the resource F-M, nice options for stock windscreens!

You're welcome, he is v. pleasant to deal with & I have gotten him on the phone before, speaking, he is courteous & patient. Quick to ship. I got a great replacement windshield for my 1983 60th Anniversary BMW R100RT from him. It was better than the stock shield!
