Not sure, but watching anything in the news now-a-days is truly depressing the he!! outta me.

I think so, and you can thank Bush, Congress, and Obama.

O
You have to go back one more President to see were the beginning of the end started. It was clinton and Barney frank that decided everyone should be allowed to own a house, wether or not you could afford it. apparently most couldn't.

True but it's pretty hard to imagine how a program like that would have played out into CDO's being used beyond their limit and ratings agencies completely failing to recognize. It's much more reasonably to expect those red flags trigger over the 2000-2007 period where their existence and value increased almost 10x. Lets not forget how oil prices kicked the crap out of everybody all the way down the distribution line at the same time too. Rather then taking note and getting wheels spinning for some middle-east independent energy programs that would be largely in effect by now that administration opened up oil reserves for a weekend and said 'see!? prices are better?'.

Obama took over and was already up shit creek, and he had to borrow money to buy a paddle. He's hardly been perfect but the 8 years Bush was in office deserve the lion's share of the credit for the shitstorm we're in. They certainly had no trouble taking all that credit before the bubble burst.

Here's a pretty funny indication of how we're still pretty fucked.

I'm fairly politically neutral, but I'm completely stunned how that man managed to get elected not only once but twice.

I sure understand the depressing part. And yes to the up shit creek,if we truly have a depression it's gonna get worse. The goverment dosen't run anything, there controled by the rich,I believe there bought and paid for with our tax money.America was the best. Now i just shake my head.Like the wife says what you gonna do? Im gonna try to prep up at least a little. To much info to do nothing. The more i look the more i learn.Feel like were all getting screwed. This forum has a lot of good people on it.Thats why i posted this.Wish all you guys the very best.

Were just screwed ! We have a little over 500 people that control the country & dont give a rats ass about the rest of us. I do believe if we go thru another 4 years of this we can kiss our ass goodbye !

No.

Everyone can't have everything. That's what started the housing crisis

Energy?
I'm in the power business, if it weren't for federal subsidies you wouldn't see a single solar or wind farm being built. They aren't economically feasible yet without bridging the gap by driving fossil fuel prices through the roof and making them economically feasible. Or enough time goes by that the technology becomes a commodity that can compete. Which it may never because the infrastructure is hugely cost prohibitive for these sorts of energy.

Blame Bush? Obama? Clinton? Wall Street? etc.

The only thing I blame Bush for is starting a grudge war.

The only thing I blame Clinton for is trying to make everybody feel good by putting into place (or encouraging thru financial incentive) systems that let people buy what they can't afford.

I blame Obama for perpetually running on the "vote for me and get free stuff" and the class warfare platform, you can't have jobs without business, scare the fuck out of business by providing an uncertain future in regards to fiscal and tax policies and it doesn't grow. Continually attack the segment of your population that has always paid a higher % of tax in proportion to its share of GDP and youve built a sound footing for non growth. The bottom 48% of earners carry about 3-5% of the tax burden. Who's not paying thier fair share? They have no skin in the game and fall easy prey to the "free stuff" "cause someone else is paying" crowd.
Look at all the European countries that are on the verge of failure because they built systems that tried to create equal results for everyone regardless of what the individual puts into it. Unless its the politicians in charge. It removes all incentive for personal determination as an ingredient to success. Do we really want to be like them cause we want some free shit?
For Christ sake has no one read Animal Farm?

Obama is a socialist pure and simple, brought up that way and can't think in any other way but that.

I blame wall street for packaging shitty loans that shouldn't have been made in the first place into investments vehicles feeding the frenzy for making MORE shitty loans. Some oversight is needed here, but for Christ sake didn't we learn what a bubble was back in the 1600's with the tulip bulb bubble?
Upside down loans, WTF? , there's nothing in the contract guaranteeing the future price of a home. You buy the home you can afford at the time. If it devalues then you keep paying regardless just like a damn car, if you can't pay cause you lost your job then there's already a mechanism for that in bankruptcy court. You don't have a right to ask the govt to fix you poor investment choices by more heavily taxing responsible people. I don't get it.

This country still has what it takes to get thru this mess. Govt needs to get the fuck out of the way and stop trying to fix things by borrowing more money and trying to make everyone happy on the backs of hardworking people.

Absolutely, the greatest depression in world history. The audit of the federal reserve bank shows, besides our $16trillion debt, an additional $16trillion in secret loans to banks and corporations across the globe. Trillion, not billions like the T.A.R.P. bailouts ppl are so pissed about. $2.5trillion to Citigroup alone. The greatest depression will collapse the entire monetary system globally.

+1
(in a nutshell)

It started going downhill when the $ stopped being backed by gold (or anything for that matter)

Now paper money is worth nothing. The fact that they just print out as much as they want doesnt help. A Society based on "fake money"(money backed by nothing to keep it in check) will eventually fail. Heck, ya dont even need to hold any paper money anymore..they can sell you "credit"(money you never even get to touch), yet you have to pay it back ..with something, and interest.

It's funny how the "federal reserve" has NOTHING to do with the government, yet they call the shots as far as finances go.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didnt JKF try to link the dollar back to a precious metal (silver I believe, not gold this time) I understand he signed the executive order, yet, it never went into effect. Oh yeah, that's right he got killed.

JMO..?..

Yes, I do believe that theres a few very rich people calling the shots..presidents are just puppets.
But that being said , we do(or did) have the opportunity to be successful in this "free country" as long as you pay your dues, and dont bother anybody else.

So, in closing, Yes, I believe we are facing the next Biggest great depression.

I think no matter who gets in there we are F***** .They will both have good n bad ideas but unfortunatley it's going to be a long time until we are back on track .

Talking about how bad it is or how bad it will get wont help anything. People dont work that way. Lets here what you all plan on doing to make things better for you and your family. If we all start talking about what plan of action we are taking today to make the ugly a little better for us when it hits people will do the same. getting cought up in marshal law because you dont have a plan will be vary ugly. I ask you to forget about tv and books and vidio's and even the vidio you just watched. Instead sit back and look at the hole picture of the world and your place in the world and take it all in. Trust your gut. Im talking about going back to your childhood and coming back to who you are today. Look at all you know about the world in your head and in your hart. Because only than can you trust that you are acting on your own thoughts. We are all vary smart people. We all need to start living in the here and now. I dont need to tell you anything. Deep down you know. Whats the worst that can happen if you spend $200 to $1000 to be safe and nothing happens. Most of what you spend the money on can be used or donated. But if you dont make a plan you could be in big trouble. So what are some of your idea's to make things better for you and your family.

You mean the depression we're in now?????? It will get worse, much worse. Hyper Spending by the Obama Administration is
holding us afloat for now. I have plan A, B and C in place. If it goes beyond that, I'm already Dead...

Dave when i said go back i dident mean to your a b c's.:rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200: I feel if a person can make it for 60 days with no help at all that person will have a great chance to be ok. Can you make it 60days. If so how will you do it.
