Break disc size (rear + front)

Hello,

I'm planning to make the mod for brake on front and to change the rear disc.
I got already the R1 calipers and very nice adapters for those (for 298 mm disc).

I was planning to change the front and rear discs, since they are not anymore efficient and they don't look good anymore.

I just would like to know if those discs will fit :

I need 298mm on front, but I don't want to upgrade the size for the rear one.

To be honest, I have an hard time to find the exact size of the disc, without removing them from the bike :rofl_200:

I have read that the Galfer were quite good, do you know where I can find a shop with good prices which will want to ship oversea ?

Did someone tried those discs you can find on Ebay ? Many buyers seem to be happy about the quality.

You might want to shoot 4gasem a pm, he's redone his brakes with the galfer's. he's in the know about brakes.

The first rotor you link to is 5mm thick. A stock Vmax rear rotor is 7mm thick. I don't know if that will work with a stock rear caliper.

I own a pair of the front rotors you linked. I'm very happy with them. The only problem is that the rotor bolt holes are not countersunk and the heads of the stock rotors bolts were very close to the fork tubes. I drilled the holes out to 10mm and installed Kawasaki flat rotor bolts with 5mm shoulders. Came out pretty good I think.

thanks guys for the reply, it's providing me precious information.

I checked also http://www.exactrep.com/acatalog/brakes.html since the discs are dedicated to the max, maybe better for not making mistakes. But I cannot say the prices are friendly :)

About the thickness, most of the times the discs are 5mm and not 7, specially R1-R6 brakes. So i guess finding a 7mm rear disc won't be so easy.

I will try to pm sir 4gasem, it might help :)
 
www.whitebuffaloracing.com is cheaper than chips and are great to deal with. I call and talk to Mike and he hooks me up.

I bought my Barnett and all my Galfer and EBC stuff from them for both of my bikes and have never been disappointed and that's saying something for me as I ALWAYS get screwed by vendors! :damn angry:

My Galfer front rotors aren't floating though. Less weight and since I don't race it on a track I am OK with it.
 
I just got the galfer brakes rear and front installed last week, just got them from www.whitebuffaloracing.com (very nice to deal with).
wow what a big difference, I might just change the break and clutch lines soon to make it perfect. Thanks again for the advices guys.
