DON'T LISTEN TO DANNY , ONE WEEK HE TAKES HIS BIKE ALL APART , PUTS MARKS PIPES ON , PULLS THE CARBS & JETS THEM , SAYS IT RUNS GREAT , THEN 2 WEEKS LATER HE PUTS IT ALL BACK TO STOCK ! :confused2: THEN HE WILL PULL THE ENGINE OUT OF THE FRAME JUST TO CLEAN IT :rofl_200:HES " CRAZY " .. GREAT GUY BUT " CRAZY " ! .. BUT HE CAN ADJUST HEAD BEARINGS IN UNDER 7 MINUTES WITH 14 PEOPLE WATCHING HIM ! :punk:... I THINK HE EVEN PULLS HIS WHEELS OFF THE BIKE JUST TO CHECK THE AIR IN THE TIRES ! .. :rofl_200:... THE CRAZIEST THING OF ALL IS ; HE HAS 2 V-MAX'S , AND DOES THIS STUFF TO BOTH OF THEM ! ... :rofl_200: ... BUT WE ALL LOVE YOU DANNY ! .. :biglaugh::punk:

I feel the love....I really do........in a "crazy" sort of way!! :wacko::wacko::wacko:

Dannymax mentioned that but, of course, referred to it by it's proper name...."final drive unit"!! :rofl_200:

Welcome to the fold M8! Buy from Morley and steer VERY clear of UFO.... UFO is a crook IMO.

I have an '06 too. Check out my pics for what it can look like slightly modified.

Leave the damn valves alone.....

otherwise just like the folks said, fluids change and you're good to get fresh rubber on it. Synch the carbs and roll!

What's this about? Checking the valves is on the maintenance schedule.

BTW, I won't be doing the work myself. I don't work on stuff any more, and my wife has worked at the local Yamaha dealer for a lot of years, so I was just going to have them do it.

Valve adjustment can be a "little tricky"!

I found this to be a simple yet effective way to approach the project!! :biglaugh:

whats wrong with cop runner???:ummm::rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200:

You'll find most people don't have much faith in the dealer (and I am one of them). The difference is like going to a family doctor vs a specialist. Sure the family doc can take care of the basic stuff but when it really comes down to doing it right you can't beat the specialist.

The valves on these bikes do not get looser as time wears by. They get tighter. Normally there is no need for the adjustment until that 25,xxx+ mileage period.

Personally, adjusting the valves sucks and I would almost rather pull the engine to do the job them do it in the frame. I can have the engine out in just over an hour compared to that same amount of time spent dicking with the valve cover bolts in the confined space.

You probably just need to do the "normal" service stuff like oil change, rear diff fluid change, check the brakes (fluid and pads), look over the forks (should not need anything done), tighten the steering head bearings properly if you have the low speed shakes, and check tires (pressure and wear).

After that fix what breaks or doesn't work like you want it (like seat, exhaust, bigger engine, chrome, and more lol).

i went to the dealer with my bike and they said, i shit you not, nice bike!! who makes those??

for some reason i still walked in.

i told them i needed oil for it, they then got in a huge fight over how much oil it took, 4 qrts or 6... i left with 4 after insisting that if i needed more... id be back.

im honestly prolly not going back

Thanks for the advice, guys.

I know what you mean about dealers. My 2009 Vette never sees a dealer. I pay the best guy around. Screw the warranty.

Is there a good V-Max specialist in Florida?

Boxenstopp!

as far as buying parts with these, it seems if you buy off sean, he helps you out... well regardless if you buy off him or not he helps you out heh..

if you buy from UFO... sean ends up helping you out. so you might as well just buy from him anyway

just look at the posts on this forum, he puts good input in almost every thread. several other guys too, but i dont know who all is selling what.

this really is the best vmax place around

even if sean was more expensive i'd buy from him. unless i'm in a pinch and the dealer happens to have my parts, hes the goto guy. mainly because A. he knows the bike so well that all u have to say is "the thick washer thing on the rear wheel that falls out on the brake side once the rim comes off" and he knows what u mean, and B. he'll help out however he can.
