Hi i was wondering if anyone has attempted using the venture frame (1983-85 - 1200cc) just to get the monoshock look?
I am not looking to add all the other rubbish/dead weight, basically just looking for a monoshocked rear end to my vmax, which would give me a springboard for further mods without getting too far into the engineering and certification route.

I think that the fuel tank would get in the way. I have seen some examples of monoshock 1st gen V-maxes, but more often than not, even the custom ones are generally wearing side mounted shocks.

Hi Dash, not too worried about the fuel tank, just another job to do.
The other versions of the monoshock ive seen for the v-max are for the really wide tyres, im not after that look either, Standard rear end is fat enough for my needs.

You want the 86-93 Venture rear diff for a more direct install. We built a mono shock setup a couple of years ago.

There are plenty of pics in our facebook albums showing the build process on this bike.

Is that arm 6" over so the shock will fit? I know I saw it in person, but there was a lot of stuff to look at.

Yes, it was a 6" over so we could have a gas tank AND the shock. Plus the look we wanted with the sport tail.

Hi Sean,
Just checked out your FB, youve done some fine work there. very impressed. Never really fancied living in America, till i saw some of the stuff you can do with bikes. Im jealous.
I have some ideas i wouldn't mind throwing past you if you have the time for a relative newbie with some possibly dumb questions? Just want to know if what im looking at is do-able.
Would appreciate the help.
Thanks
Adie

no problem and ask away. There are plenty of talented guys on this site that do even far more custom stuff then i do
