changing springs take off fork legs?

i bought progressives (standard size). do i have to remove the bottom fork leg, or can i just swap the springs by pulling them out the top of the fork?

Release all air from air valve and carefully remove fork cap on top. Then, remove spacer, spring seat, and spring. Inspect the fork oil and you may want to consider removing the wheel and forks and changing the oil while you are at it.

Make sure to loosen the top fork clamp bolts before attempting to remove the fork caps!

Also make sure to pour exactly the right (and equal) amount of oil in each fork tube, or even better, have a syringe and long tube to suck/add oil until you reach the appropriate level.
