I agree. It's cool how my having put the drag bar on so easily facilitates such a better position. (Duh, hence the term Drag Bar, huh!) :)

I agree 15 dollar dragbars are a night and day difference over the stock tricycle design handlebars

Reminds me of the time I was coming back from Daytona Beach on I95 N and ran it up to 155 no helmet my glasses left an indentation from the air force
Yes I agree it was dumb 155 no helmet

thats over 10.000 rpm ?

Pegged many of times at 155 and still climbing with NOS.
I will admit its white knuckles after 135MPH on the VMAX. its comfortable cruising at 120MPH but something about once you hit 135 on the Speedo it gets interesting.
In all actuality. with speedo error, if your speedo is reading 155 your doing around 147

I was nailed doing 131 in a 70. my speedo actually read 131, it was right on. I had stock size tire in front and the me880 170 in the rear and the wife. Im assuming that compensated for the typical inaccuracy

I am running the same combo ME880 in the front and a 170 80 15 in the rear. When I go through the mph traps at the track my speedo is reading 107 but I am only really doing 100-101MPH

That reminds me, about 20 years ago, I was riding a V-65 Magna. Me and a friend stopped to chat and smoke. We pulled away and opened them up from about a 20 mph roll. At about 120mph, I realized that I had forgot to re-buckle my helmet when it flew off my head and tried to rip my ears off. :bang head:

Live and learn.

To be honest it was over 3 yrs ago. I wasnt watching the Tachometer at those speeds. Well I dont ever watch the tach needle.
its pretty easy to figure out 3200 rpm is 50 mph in 5th every 1000 rpm you gain 15 mph to make it easy 3000 is 50...4000 is 65...5000 is 80....6000 is 95.....7000 is 110...8000 is 125....9000 is 140.....10.000 is 155 thats if its possabel to hit 10000 rpm fifth...atleast on my max thats how it reads so im sure there all the same

That would be with stock tire height as well.

It is indeed possible to hit 10 in 5th, I hit 10,500 in 5th.

In 1986, My stock except S.Trap slip ons 1986 took me to 150 indicated which I am sure the error gets bigger the faster you go. The wind blast was incredible but was was wierd was the aerodynamic forces felt like it was trying to pull my helmet off? I was tucked as well as a 6'2 person could be. I ran with ZX-10s and Honda Hurricanes then,(remember them?)
I would have stayed in it longer if the whole helmet thing didn't unnerve me. Young and dumb,,,young and dumb. Anyone else have that? I regularly blast 120 on my way to and from work with my 1990 but it has 43mm tubes with Progressive springs, dropped in the trees, radial tire, no fender and at that speed, it just starts feeling exciting or well, fast ! My VMOA chapter leader has a fuel injected, USD fork, lowered bike that it is running right at 160 on the tracks. Sounds like Sean M is on track with it taking more motor to hit Busa speeds. Anyone ever see a fully faired Max?

I dont think all are the same

Rear tire size = gear ratio

tire size might be off a tad compaired to a stock tire... point is you know what mph to rpm your running no matter what tire your using...one run on the highway at 3000 rpm then 4000 rpm will tell you what your rpm is at 145 mph ...... tranny gears the same ...rear end is the same..do you use a tire size that helps in the 1/8 mile ?

Not sure exactly how fast! I do know speedo was maxed . rpm was almost 11,000 (supercharged ) maybe why I am in the rebuild process again lol. Hopefully faster when i get my bike back running going with the overdrive trans .:eusa_dance:

What is the fastest you have traveled (observed top speed) on your V-Max?

So far it's about 80mph for me... still breaking it in and establishing that initial relationship of trust!

125with my 98. I had a 89 and saw 135, but I am alittle older now.

I quit looking at the gauges around 100 and focus on the road... I'm a fatty, so I'm sure im not breaking 130 but I've had it going as fast as it will go on a gentle downslope.
