lower fork guards

I was in Albuquerque the other day and saw a newer Max at the
stealer. It had a blk lower fork guard that also was the
fender mount. Is this factory for the newer Max's , and if so will
it fit the older models ?

2003 or 2002 (I don't remember) on up. It won't direct fit on your fork but if you change the whole fork it will work.

I made some out of thin black foam. Actually 2 layers glued together on a round pipe to match the radius of the lower fork. Held on with blace zip tie. seems to work.

Only guessing, but pulling the upper tubes out might free them up enough to be pulled out without much prying. That's just a guess, but I do know they don't come out very easily with the upper tubes in.
