True I'm sure, using the stock cabrs is going to leave something on the table. But stock it is for now. I'm running a UFO 4-2, no crossover, which I guess is really two 2-1's ?

With the added stroke over a Tourmaster, and the higher compression than the tourmaster (it's 13:1) I'm hoping for 170 even with the stockers. It's going back together with ported heads, stock valves, and standard shim arrangement lfiters with the 03 cam....we'll see, it it makes 160's I'll still be happy knowing that when I get some flatslides on there it'll make a little more.

What was the difference on your motor between the stock carbs and the flatslides HP and TQ wise?

Hi i see you are where i was last year i had PCW turn my 12000 mile stock mtr into a 1500 tourmaster and i can tell you this from my own experience. on the dyno i tried the stock carbs with Seans kit ,if you want to bring that monster to life then you are going to have to goto flatside carbs i have 39mmm you will prob need 41mm and a custom exhaust 4 into 2 into 1and larger diameter pipes, i went with a Marks jet hot coated my motor pulled a 166.7 hp and 111 fpt on the dyno mine is still shaft drive to .I also had to goto a 3" stretch swingarm. Marcus Hickman has a PCW 1570 long rod and won the shoot out at daytona with 203hp chain drive pcw 4 into 2 into 1. If mine is done by May it'll be a miracle. I'm stuck in Bakersfield Ca. right now on a PG&E Substation upgrade job, and it sucks ass. Supposed to be here on and off till April, mostly on.

Trying to make something nice and modern out of a 50 year old substation is a pain in the dick, the drawings are terrible, most of the time is spent trying to figure out what's there before you rip it out and start over, so you can keep most of it up and running while changing small pieces at a time. It's like trying to swap out someones kidneys one at a time without 'em noticing.

Clean slate/Green field jobs are much more enjoyable and a lot less stressful.......

I do have a week off at Christmas so may get some start on it then.

Mostly I'm just ready to be home, I'm getting tired of the travel, it was fun for a while, the moneys better than ever, the wife doesn't mind a bit, my dog still recognizes me ..Travel and high profile projects will skyrocket you in this company but damn I've had enough..........living out of a suitcase is starting to suck ass.....
Soon as I get my Daughter out of a college I think I'm gonna have to tell to keep me in town and let the younger guns handle this out of town crap.....I can't spend prestige and won't need the money after she's out of college....Time to start living......
Then again I would start missing the rush of cutting a new sub into the grid after a while too....

ones cost a lot more.
In quantities of 10 and up new ones, I could do $900 each, but otherwise they would
be $950 each.

Bolting in may take a while tho......It's in pieces down to the bare block....

Thats the blower alone. You still need to adapt the carb, belt frame and such. Your pistons are not suited for this setup... I already thought of that one but they are pretty scarce used and the replacement parts are not as easy to get... Rather go with magnuson that is a proven setup. I still have that project on the shelf... I have a big shelf... :biglaugh:

I wasn't asking Antwerks due to any interest in putting one on my engine build. I was just curious about this "new blower source"
Hell you can buy blower that would fit the space all day long....it's the kit and pieces to make it bolt up and work that are the hard part apparently.
I blew off the idea of a blower long ago. Too many stories of heartache and huge expense.....

And of course your correct....13:1 comp ratio and a blower would not get along very amicably......Wouldn't dream of it...unk:

Nothing exact but generally about the cost of a PCW tourmaster plus the added cost of the stroker crank, so around $6500 so far,...................but that's including a 2nd gear repair job, full undercutting of all gears in the tranny and a Venture 5th gear conversion as well....So all in all a pretty good deal....

Plus however much I end up spending on the heads, gonna be about $1k if I just port and do a valve job and new seals with stock valves on my heads.........I think I found a set of WELL ported big valve heads like PCW uses on thier higher HP long rod motors ready to go but haven't decided if I can stand to spend that much more.....In any case by the time it's done I'm probably gonna be in the hole about $7500-$8500.

I was toying with the idea off buying a used motor and rebuilding it, for an eventual swap. I didn't realize it would be so expensive, even with doing a lot of the assembly work yourself. Wow! I can't justify the expense, but, I sure would like to build a 1,500 cc motor.

I think you could take a sound but tired motor and "freshen" it up for a grand or so??

Progress so far

By the way, just because things look clean in the engine never assume it, my oil strainer screen looked pretty good on initial examination. I got motivated and popped the screen off so I could have a look and the side you can't see, the part that was covered, was packed full of hunks of metal, they didn't go through the screen but had pretty well clogged a good bit of it.

I went ahead and completely dissasembled the oil pump for inspection and it looked fine tho', just cleaned it up and put it back together.....should have got pics of that but didn't

Damon Ferrarrulo's video is freaking awesome by the way, man's the master of detail....His video covers 100's of the questions that come up on here on the forum even when it's not something to do with actually assembling an engine.....Just fixing stuff and getting it back together, starters, clutches, generators, flywheels, cam timing, where all the different length bolts go on the covers etc.

Can anyone say "There you have it!" Think I've heard it 1000 times in the last three days : )
